| She sang this song the way it was done at the time it was written. The united States was in the Great Depression and things were anything but comfortable at this time. the way she sings it reflects that uncertainty about what the future held for the people of that time. Streisand was a very unconventional singer at that time and the arrangement she used for this song is a reflection of that. She wanted to be known as something different. These many years later, she is still has that effect. |
